Director's OHS Training

There are approximately 1400 obligations under law for Senior Managers and Directors to comply with which can become an impossible task! Everyone in your company would be wearing space suits and crash helmets and be full time OHS staff! There needs to be a compromise between your business functioning efficiently whilst incorporating simple OHS processes to ensure you are as compliant as possible. Our job is to show you how.

This used to be a WorkCover Approved course and is still recommended for Directors of a Board and others overseeing OHS responsibilities within an organisation. Topics covered include; Legal Obligations (understanding how the law works in relation to OHS in NSW), OHS Responsibilities (how the legal obligations translate to and affect your employees), Consultation (why it is mandatory, discuss the current practice with your organisation and how it can be made more compliant and effective), Risk Management (using your current OHS Management System actual risk assessments will be completed using the Risk Matrix and Hierarchy of Control), Incident Management (investigating incidents and using the information to feed back into the OHS System), and Workers Compensation (briefly looks at obligations under current law and how efficient Incident Management can drastically reduce your organisation’s insurance premiums).

Manager and Supervisor's OHS Training

This used to be a Work Cover approved course and is still recommended for Managers, Supervisors and others overseeing OHS responsibilities within an organisation. WorkCover Approved 4 Day Consultation Training

This course in OHS consultation has been developed by WorkCover NSW to meet the training requirements for OHS committees and OHS representatives, as stated in the OHS Regulation 2001. It is recommended that all OHS Committee Members and OHS Representatives attend. Topics covered include; Workplace Health and Safety, The Role of OH&S Consultation in the Workplace, Effective OH&S Consultation in the Workplace, Systematic Management of Health and Safety, Action Learning Exercise, and Continuous Improvement of OH&S Systems, All participants receive comprehensive notes and handouts that can be used as reference after the course. Fire and Emergency Training

Those of you who own an asset such as a house are sure to understand the likelihood and consequence of a fire burning it down. Statistically, your house is extremely unlikely to burn down in the Sydney metropolitan region but the consequence is catastrophic; leaving you with potentially losing everything you have ever worked for. Because of this consequence, we buy house insurance to control it.

The likelihood of someone dying in your business is statistically low but again the consequence is catastrophic with OHS law able to impose fines. The flow-on effect from these fines could mean that you lose your house AND go to jail! You cannot get insurance to control that consequence. Your insurance in a Court of Law is to show documented evidence of your OHS systems. Many companies and senior management can’t do that and it’s because they don’t understand the consequences of poor OHS practices. Even simple ones will dramatically protect you. Our job is to show you how.

Clause 17 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001 states that an employer must ensure that, in the event of an emergency at any place of work at which the employer’s undertaking is conducted, arrangements have been made for; the safe and rapid evacuation of persons from the place of work, emergency communications, and appropriate medical treatment of injured persons. With proper use, a portable fire extinguisher will be able to reduce or eliminate the degree of injury, damage and cost to business in the event of a small fire. You can reduce the risk of fire occurring in your workplace by undertaking the training provided by Recovery Partners. Topics covered include; Smoke, Fire Triangle, Methods of Extinguishment, Fire Class, Methods of Fire Spread, Fire Extinguishers, Extinguisher Use, Fire Blankets, Fire Hose Reels, Sprinkler System, and Assessment.

Manual Handling Training

Recovery Partners offers both a Manual Handling Training Course as well as the Manual Handling Refresher Training Course. The Refresher training course is suitable for participants who have completed the training over 24 months ago.

Prices for our Manual Handling Training include;

  • Manual Handling Training Course - $675.00* (+ GST)
  • Manual Handling Refresher Training Course - $525.00* (+ GST)

The Manual Handling course includes the following topics;

  • What is Manual Handling?
  • How Manual Handling Injuries Occur?
  • Identify, Assess and Control Manual Handling Risks
  • Anatomy and Biomechanics
  • Safe Lifting Techniques (theory and practical)

Delivery of the course is based on adult learning principles and delivered to a maximum of 16 people per session. We encourage a high level of participation from all attendees. This is achieved via activities, case examples and discussion. The course will be delivered by an occupational therapist or physiotherapist. Recovery Partners will conduct the training on-site. Participants will be provided with a copy of the presentation slides, an exercise sheet and an exam sheet.
