For those of you not in NSW, Mounties is the neighbourhood institution that everyone knows and loves, the best place to watch the game, have a family dinner and connect with your community. Recovery Partners has had a long partnership with the Mounties Group, and we’re proud to be their choice of Safety Business Partner for all their venues, teams and activities. And, we’re doubly proud today to hear that they’ve just won the icare Care and Service Excellence Award for Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety!
The icare awards are designed to ‘celebrate those organisations and individuals making outstanding, positive contributions to the delivery of insurance and care services for the people, businesses and communities of NSW,’ the organisation says. To apply for the award and make sure they stood out among some pretty stiff competition, the Mounties Group had to compile a submission explaining why their WHS program was worthy of recognition.
In particular, the Mounties Group’s Workplace Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS) was a highlight of their submission, and we’re pleased to have led them in the development of this excellent program. Chi Ly, Recovery Partners GM of Safety, says that the Mounties’ commitment to the program has been outstanding. ‘It’s been a real pleasure to work with a company who is so dedicated to ensuring that the WHS protocols, policies and procedures we’ve instituted are effectively applied,’ Ly says. ‘The team at Mounties have worked extremely hard in this area, and it’s great to see their efforts recognised.’
The WHSMS includes features such as WHS workshops for the entire Mounties Supervisory, Management Team and WHS Committee members, as well as WHS training for new recruits and annual refresher training for all 671 Mounties employees. In addition to this, the Mounties Group have displayed their high regard for the health and safety of its employees by implementing a Live Well, Work Well Health, Safety & Wellness program.
This program includes a variety of initiatives including discounted gym memberships for employees, health assessments, wellness seminars, free vaccinations and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for confidential counselling and support. What’s more, the Mounties Group has also developed comprehensive risk management, assessment and reporting procedures that have been successfully rolled out across the organisation to ensure the group accounts for implementing the best control options possible to keep their workers and patrons as safe a possible. If that’s not a job well done, we don’t know what is!
Congratulations to the Mounties Group on your win! The Recovery Partners team are thrilled to have been a small part of your success, and we look forward to helping you continue to set the benchmark for WHS in your industry in the coming years.
