Veteran Rehabilitation from a Consultant’s Perspective:

Georgia is our QLD Branch Manager. She has been working with veterans and providing veteran rehabilitation services for the past 5 years. When asked what she enjoys most about working with veterans, she said “I feel like I have had the most profound impact on those veterans who discharged from ADF a long time ago and were ‘lost in the system’ for many years before getting the support of DVA”.

Helping Mark after years without treatment

One client springs to mind. Mark discharged from ADF in March 1996. He was referred to DVA rehabilitation services in September 2022, for the first time.

During the initial meeting, Georgia provided direction, education and understanding on the DVA rehabilitation process and how DVA can support Mark. She focused on the medical management goal first. Mark had not had treatment for so many years but sadly, had a number of physical and mental health conditions that needed treatment.

Once Mark was linked in with necessary treatment, Georgia helped him link in with community activities or hobbies that he always wanted to try.

Veteran rehabilitation success

Here’s what Mark had to say about Recovery Partners and more specifically, Georgia!

“When I first entered into the rehabilitation program, I figured it would be more red tape. However, on commencement entering rehab program with Recovery Partners, I realised this organisation is generally trying to help veterans live better in our community. I would highly recommend using Recovery Partners, as a rehabilitation provider. They really do help you see that you still have some worth in the community. The service Recovery Partners have changed my view on the Veterans Affairs process. Prior to engaging in a rehabilitation program, my life felt quite unmanageable and in disarray. After dealing with Recovery Partners, I feel now I have a chance possibly being an active member in my community. I am now able to socialise a lot better in small public circles and building up to be able to attend some education classes to keep bettering myself and to continue my development in the community. I honestly cannot recommend the rehab services provided by Recovery Partners highly enough”.
