What can I offer to a workplace? Why would a workplace hire me? If you’ve been asking these questions, and wondering what skills veterans bring to workplaces you are not alone. We get asked these questions all the time by our veteran clients.

The short answer: You have so much to offer a workplace! And most employers love hiring veterans because of their valuable attributes.

The long answer:

Veterans bring a lot to a civilian workplace. Most of our veteran clients display an ability to take initiative and guide teams effectively. This kind of leadership ability is rare.

A life in the ADF requires adapting to different environments and situations. This can help veterans learn the ability to adjust to new challenges – another asset to an employer.

Most of our veteran clients tend to have strong problem solving skills from their military experience. This is essential in any workplace.

Being a part of the ADF, you may have seen that they rely heavily on teamwork and veterans tend to be adept at working with others to achieve a common goal.

However, the most consistent feedback we hear from employers who hire veterans is the amazing work ethic veterans have. Most veterans are highly regarded for their dedication to tasks and attention to detail. These skills make a veteran invaluable to an employer.

This website has a register of all the organisations who have joined the Veteran Employment Commitment. Organisations are grouped in 3 levels – depending on the veteran employment activities they undertake. You can use this website to filter by location, by company size, and even by industry.
