The Role

Reporting to the Branch Manager Blacktown and General Manager New Employer Services, you will work in a small team, for a variety of clients in both the private and public sector. You will be responsible for supporting and assisting individuals who have sustained an injury or illness, to make a safe and sustainable return to suitable employment. You will develop and implement appropriate and innovative plans to support return to work and manage barriers. We prompt participants to be heavily engaged to generate momentum and accelerate their potential to own their rehabilitation journey.

Involving local travel, this role is a blend of assessments such as VOC assessments as well as rehabilitation consultancy, account management and quality assurance. The role allows you to experience both the personal satisfaction of genuinely helping people and the professional pride of working effectively within a framework of compliance, processes and policies.

What you will do
  • Rehabilitation Case Management for clients
  • Single Service Assessments including Vocational Assessments
  • Managing secondary psychological barriers associated with some physical injury cases
  • Negotiate positive outcomes for multiple stakeholders
  • Provision of job skills training where clients require on-going assistance
  • Face to face and telephonic EAP counselling to clients (under supervision)
  • Assist injured workers return to suitable paid employment
  • Provision of job skills training where clients require on-going assistance
  • Mental health awareness training
  • Use and interpretation of a range of psychometric instruments (personality, emotional intelligence, mental health, occupational interest and aptitude testing)

What qualifications/experience you need
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Rehabilitation Counselling
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC)
  • Current Police Check (National Police Certificate) – or ability to obtain
  • Valid Australian Driver’s License
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational & time management skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • A positive, solution-focused outlook with a sense of humour
