Injured at Work Guide

6 January 2020 posted by Recovery Partners

The State Insurance Regulation Association (SIRA) (formerly WorkCover NSW) has recently issued this updated guide to provide pro-active information to injured workers.

The guide includes:

  • Things you and your employer must do under NSW workers compensation law
  • Advice on RTW (the longer you stay off work, the higher the likelihood of not returning to work)
  • Insurance claims process
  • The roles of all people involved in the process (insurers, rehabilitation providers, doctors, and employers)

What’s been updated?

  • Changes include updating prescribed medical tests and results relating to brucellosis, Q fever, and leptospirosis to reflect the latest definitions from the NSW Control Guidelines for Public Health Units
  • Alignment with reforms to workers compensation and legal profession legislation
  • Removal of unnecessary clauses
  • Updated references to other legislative instruments
  • Clarification of the wording of clauses where there was previously unclear interpretation
