Rapid ADL Assessment

RECOVERY PARTNERS: THE REHAB EXPERTS
Rapid ADL Assessments
ADL Assessments (Activities of Daily Living) evaluate an individual’s level of independence and function in relation to personal care, leisure, and social activities. We use ADL Assessments to help reduce the impact of impairment caused by injury and illness, and to facilitate the earliest return to pre-disability functions.
Our Occupational Therapists will conduct these assessments within an individual’s residential environment. We seek to guide rehabilitation by managing inherent environmental challenges via modification, substitution, or elimination of performance requirements. By doing so we facilitate greater functionality for the individual improving their biopsychosocial health.
What is a rapid ADL Assessment?
The assessment is completed and the report submitted within 5 business days of receiving the referral (pending worker availability).
When is a rapid ADL suitable?
A rapid ADL is suitable for ADL requests for home help assistance (household cleaning and/or lawn mowing/gardening) requests. More complex ADL requests including home modification/equipment requests, and attendant care requests are not as suited to the rapid ADL service.
What information is required to complete a rapid ADL?
To conduct a rapid ADL assessment, the following information, if available, is required:
- Insurer completed activities of daily living referral form.
- Current certificate of capacity.
- GP/treater referral for home help services.
- Previous ADL/IME assessments (if applicable).
