The Top 3 OHS Templates for creating a safe work environment in your Australian business
The first of our Top 3 OHS Templates might seem like an optional extra, but it’s actually a legal obligation for all businesses to proactively identify hazards and risks before someone gets injured. The Workplace Inspection Tool gives you a clear and comprehensive checklist to systematically work your way through, identifying known issues and assessing them for compliance, and identifying non-compliances and how they can be rectified.
Safety laws state that all required tasks in your workplace must have a ‘safe system of work’ or Safe Work Procedure that outlines how they should be done correctly. While documenting your Safe Work Procedures is not mandatory, it’s the easiest way to prove that you have a safe system of work in place. The template we offer in the Toolbox webshop has a section where your employees can sign to indicate that they’ve received training in the system, which is another legal obligation. These templates can be edited to suit your business requirements.
In the construction industry, High Risk Construction Work (HRWC) legally requires a Safe Work Method Statement (or SWMS). The regulations around SWMS documents even mandate the contents of them, so it’s important to get it right. The templates we offer in the Toolbox webshop have all the information you’re legally required to provide and apply to a variety of trades. These SWMS templates include: Removing Bonded Asbestos SWMS, Painting Inside and Outside SWMS, Carpenter Fit Out and Fixing SWMS, Tiling Wall and Floor SWMS, Installing Gyprock Plasterboard SWMS, Cabinetry and Joinery SWMS, and a SWMS template. And, for those in the business of making work environments safe at the moment, there’s a COVID-19 Decontamination SWMS available, too.
