Pre-Employment Health Assessments

Pre-Employment Health Assessments (PEHA) are the best way to determine if an individual’s health and fitness levels are an appropriate match for a given role and its tasks. The assessment can also identify any risks that may arise when a worker completes their duties.

Review candidates, identify risk and rapidly mobilise prospective employees.

Our pre-employment medicals offer a quality experience. Our procedures, online platforms and team of professionals allows us to deliver innovative outcomes to improve service delivery nationwide.

Did you know that a wrong hire can cost a business up to 2.5 times the salary of the employee?

Benefits of Pre-Employment screenings

Pre-employment health checks are some of the most important yet overlooked part of the hiring process.

Benefits include:

•   Suitable, capable employees fit for work
•   Reduction in workplace injuries
•   Reduction in claims and insurance costs
•   Match the capacity of the employee with the role
•   Candidates may be made aware of previously unknown medical conditions

The purpose of a medical assessment is to

• Review the candidate’s medical history
• Review the candidate’s capability to meet the physical requirements of the role
• Attain recommendations for the candidate’s physical suitability for the role
• Psychometric testing can help you find the best fit for your team

What's involved in a Pre-Employment Health Assessment?

The main components of a pre-employment medical include:

Comprehensive medical questionnaire

This includes:

  • Blood pressure
  • Heart rate
  • Body weight
  • Height
  • BMI

Vision testing, including colour blindness.

Useful for monitoring long-term noise exposure, Audiometry can prevent employer liability for future hearing loss injuries.

Audiometry testing is for medium/high risk roles.

Our test measures the degree of airflow obstruction in the lungs. This provides insight into workers with asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for example.

Spirometry Testing is for medium/high risk roles.

Evaluating the employee’s muscles, bones and joints, as well as their strength and form in completing duties that are specific to their role. This includes:

  • Musculoskeletal range of motion
  • Anatomical joint integrity
  • Strength and balance
  • Postural tendencies
  • Lifting
  • Push/pull tolerances
  • Grip strength

Recovery Partners can add or omit components depending on the job and client requirements.

Andrea was absolutely amazing. She was professional, but she was friendly and explained everything we were doing. I was quite nervous about the fitness test as I really want the job I was being tested for. Andrea took time and care to make the experience stress-free and in hindsight, I was nervous over nothing. I cannot speak highly enough for Andrea and I was actually going to reach out on my own to provide a positive commendation on my experience but I didn't want to be perceived as intending to 'bribe' or 'alter' the report. As I've now heard from my potential employer to confirm that they have received the report, I'm so happy to provide this feedback.

Rajvi conducted herself in a very professional manner and made me feel relaxed right from the beginning of the assessment. She remained personable and understanding throughout, she was also clear and concise. I'd recommend her to anyone. Finally, I felt we were having a conversation rather than me being assessed. Thank you
