As an employer, it is your duty and responsibility to see to it that your employees’ health and safety are taken care of. In Australia, the Work Health and Safety (WHS) forms the basis for implementing workplace safety. Employee safety is not only a legal responsibility but is also a moral responsibility.

What is workplace safety prevention?

Prevention aims to keep events that may predispose employees to injury from happening.

What is workplace safety protection?

Protection, on the other hand, involves putting barriers against harm.

Prevention versus protection

Both work towards the minimisation of injuries and illnesses in the workplace.

However, which is the best option? Many employers tend to concern themselves more with protecting their employees from injury as opposed to injury prevention. As much as protection is effective, prevention is the most ideal and recommended safety procedure.

Workplace injury prevention program

A workplace injury prevention program is a proactive process designed to help employers spot and eradicate any workplace hazards that may risk an employee’s health and safety. It focuses on finding all safety loopholes in a workplace and developing an effective plan to eradicate those hazards.

Although instituting such a program may increase a company’s expenditure, the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages. Injury prevention programs have significantly transformed workplace cultures leading to improved employee morale, increased productivity and reduced costs.

Every organisation is different and as such, you will need a program that meets your business’s needs while considering the industry sector or complexity of operations.

At Recovery Partners, we review organisations’ procedures and perform comprehensive reviews of existing safety systems. With our health and safety program, you will be able to minimise injuries and reduce costs.

We have also introduced an online safety software, Diligence, so that you can manage your WHS requirements from your phone, tablet or laptop.

We are available in multiple locations across Australia. If you are interested, you can enquire online.

Our consultants love to have a chat, so go ahead and give us a call on 1300 OHS RTW (647 789) or email enquiries@rrp.com.au
